Distributed generation is often characterized by inverter-based feed-in. Due to this technology i.e. wind turbines are able to deliver active and reactive power in a very flexible manner during grid faults. Minimum requirements on control strategies are determined by technical guidelines providing higher security of supply. This paper investigates the impact of control strategies on distance measurement. Therefore a generic windpark model is being implemented, coupled to the electricity grid via overhead lines. Furthermore, the simulation of unsymmetrical faults shows the impact of positive sequence control during grid faults. Based on these facts the influence of various parameters on the distance measurement of distance protection relays is being investigated.
