Vom Bolzplatz zum Dorfplatz : Entwurf eines Nachbarschaftszentrums als prototypisches Modell für eine neue Ortsmitte

Abstract

Ob Klein oder Groß, im Süden wie im Norden, Fußball gilt als universelle Sprache, die Menschen weltweit verbindet. Sportplätze sind dabei mehr als reine Spielfelder: Sie prägen Ortskerne, schaffen Identität und fungieren als soziale Treffpunkte. Alleine in Deutschland existieren Zehntausende solcher Flächen. Dennoch erfüllen sie bislang fast ausschließlich eine monofunktionale Rolle, sie gehören den Vereinen und den Fußballbegeisterten. Wieso also nutzen wir nicht genau dieses Potential der verfügbaren Flächen und transformieren sie zu inklusiven und offenen Begegnungsstätten für alle Menschen? Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit untersucht, wie in wachsenden Ortsteilen aus einem Bolzplatz ein Dorfplatz entstehen kann. Ein Ort, der sportliche, funktionale und soziale Dimensionen integriert und ein Zentrum der Gemeinschaft entstehen lässt. Am Beispiel eines Entwurfs für ein Nachbarschaftszentrum am Fuße des Schwarzwalds wird ein prototypisches Modell entwickelt, das fragmentierte und monofunktionale Flächen in flexible, multifunktionale Räume transformiert. Wo bisher nur Vereinsheime dominierten, bietet ein modularer architektonischer Ansatz die Möglichkeit der individuellen Aneignung durch die Bewohner:innen und schafft damit ein lebendiges Geflecht aus Begegnung, Austausch und Teilhabe. Ziel der Arbeit ist es, die Architektur als Werkzeug einzusetzen, um im peripheren Raum Gemeinschaft, Inklusion, Nachhaltigkeit, Identität und Vielfalt nicht nur sichtbar, sondern auch erfahrbar zu machen.

From bustling cities to remote villages, in the north as well as in the south, football is a universal language connecting people across the globe. Sports fields are therefore more than mere places of play, they shape the fabric of towns, anchor collective identity, and serve as vital social nodes. Yet, despite their ubiquity, with tens of thousands spread across Germany alone, their function has largely remained singular: devoted to clubs and football devotees.This raises a fundamental question: How can the spatial potential of these grounds be reimagined as inclusive arenas of community life? This thesis investigates how a football field can transform into a community ground, a civic space where athletic, functional, and social dimensions converge to create a new communal heart. Through the design of a neighbourhood centre at the foot of the Black Forest, this work proposes a prototypical model for such transformation: turning fragmented, monofunctional sites into flexible and multifaceted meeting places. A modular and adaptable architectural framework invites appropriation by the inhabitants themselves, fostering a living network of encounter, exchange, and participation. Ultimately, this thesis positions architecture as an instrument for rendering community, inclusion, sustainability, identity, and diversity both visible and experientially accessible within the peripheral landscape.
