Der Donauradweg Ottensheim - Puchenau bei Linz Entwicklung und Evaluierung alternativer Varianten

Abstract

Um das Fahrradfahren als Teil der aktiven Mobilität in Österreich zu fördern, muss das Radwegenetz ausgebaut und auf ein angemessenes Niveau gebracht werden, und bestehende Radverkehrsanlagen müssen verbessert werden. Das Institut für Transportwissenschaften der Universität für Bodenkultur Wien (BOKU) hat ein Bewertungsinstrument für Radinfrastruktur entwickelt, das eine objektive Bewertung auf der Grundlage definierter Qualitätskriterien ermöglicht. Mithilfe dieses Tools können gefährliche Abschnitte und Bereiche mit Verbesserungspotenzial identifiziert werden, sodass effizient geeignete Maßnahmen ergriffen werden können.In seiner Masterarbeit (2024) wendete Christof Scharf dieses Bewertungstool auf den Abschnitt des Donau-Radwegs zwischen Puchenau und Ottensheim (zwei Gemeinden im Speckgürtel von Linz) an und verglich die Ergebnisse mit denen alternativer Routenvarianten. Diese Route ist von besonderer Bedeutung, da sie Teil der EuroVelo 6 (Donau-Radweg) ist, einer der meistbefahrenen Fernradwege Europas. Darüber hinaus ist die Route im Mobilitätsmodell der Region Linz als zukünftige Hauptradroute ausgewiesen, erfüllt jedoch derzeit nicht die strukturellen Anforderungen für diese Einstufung.Um die Ergebnisse des Bewertungstools zu verifizieren, wurden in dieser Studie Umfragen unter den Nutzern des Radwegs und den Ottensheimer Einwohnern durchgeführt.Zu diesem Zweck wurden Fragebögen erstellt und statistisch ausgewertet. Diese erfragten das Nutzungsverhalten der Befragten in Bezug auf den Radweg sowie ihre Bewertung des bestehenden Abschnitts anhand spezifischer Qualitätskriterien. Zusätzlich wurden die Einstellungen der Bewohner gegenüber vorgeschlagenen alternativen Routen erfasst. Die Umfrageergebnisse wurden anschließend mit den Ergebnissen des Bewertungstools verglichen.Die Umfrageergebnisse zeigen, dass die Radroute insgesamt sehr negativ bewertet wurde. Besonders auffällig ist, dass die Anwohner die Teilstrecke der Route deutlich schlechter bewerteten.

In order to promote cycling as part of active mobility in Austria, it is necessary to expand the cycle path network to an appropriate standard and improve existing cycling facilities. The Institute of Transport Studies at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) has developed an assessment tool for cycling infrastructure that enables objective evaluation based on defined quality criteria. This allows hazardous sections and potential for improvement to be identified and appropriate measures to be taken with efficient use of resources.This assessment tool was applied in Christof Scharf's master's thesis (2024) to the section ofthe Danube Cycle Path between Puchenau and Ottensheim, two municipalities in the peri-urban area of Linz, and the results were compared with those of alternative route variants. Thecycle route examined is of particular importance as it is a section of EuroVelo 6 (Danube CycleRoute) and thus one of the busiest long-distance cycle routes in Europe. In addition, the route was designated as a future main cycle route in the mobility model for the Linz region, but itdoes not currently meet the structural requirements for this.To verify the results of Scharf's (2024) assessment tool, surveys were conducted with users ofthe cycle path on site and with residents of the municipality of Ottensheim as part of this study.Analog questionnaires were created and statistically evaluated for this purpose. The surveys examined the usage behaviour of the respondents with regard to the cycle route and their assessment of the existing section of the route according to specific quality criteria. Furthermore,the attitudes of residents towards proposed alternative routes were recorded. The findings from the surveys were then compared with the results of the assessment tool.The survey results show that the cycle route was rated very negatively overall. It is striking that residents rated the section of the route significantly worse than the users surveyed. In addition,the cycle route was predominantly rated as unsuitable for children and visibility in the dark was rated as inadequate. The majority of respondents were in favour of improvements to the existing route and relocating the cycle route to the Danube. A comparison of the survey results with those of the assessment tool confirmed the findings of Scharf (2024).
