Hydro ponos : die vertikale Farm auf dem Flakturm im Augarten : eine Symbiose zwischen Bestand und Neubau

Abstract

Die Diplomarbeit hydro ponos an der technischen Universität Wien befasst sich mit dem Thema einer neuen Art der Landwirtschaft im urbanen Kontext Wiens. Der Titel hydro ponos, welches auf Altgriechisch Wasser und Arbeit bedeutet, bezeichnet das hydroponische System in einer vertikalen Farm als landwirtschaftliche Produktion und bezieht sich auf die Hauptnutzung des Projekts. Als Bauplatz wurde der leer stehende Gefechtsturm des Flakturm Paares im Augarten gewählt. Mithilfe von Fachliteratur zum Thema der aktuellen Ausführung der Landwirtschaft sowohl in Österreich als auch weltweit, analysiert die Arbeit die Gegebenheiten und bildet einen kritischen Standpunkt gegenüber der aktuellen Form des Ackerbaus. Anhand von zukunftsorientierten Systemen wie vertikaler und urbaner Landwirtschaft wird ein Lösungsansatz in Form eines neuen Holzskelettbaus als Aufstockung des Turmes für die Stadt vorgeschlagen. Der Gefechtsturm im Wiener Augarten soll als Speicher und Versorgungselement für die neue Nutzung dienen. Des Weiteren werden Teile des bestehenden Flakturms umgeplant, um neue kulturelle Nutzungen wie ein Flakturm Museum, ein Landwirtschafts Museum, ein Marktplatz für Lebensmittel, Gastronomie und eine Aussichtsplattform als Dachterrasse zu schaffen. Auf Grund seiner Beschaffenheiten wird erklärt, warum dieser sich optimal als Speicherort der Produktion, Versorgungselement und als Einrichtung diverser kulturellen Nutzungen dient. Ziel der Arbeit ist es, eine Symbiose zwischen dem Bestand und dem Neubau.

The diploma hydro ponos at the Technical University of Vienna focuses on a new type of agricultural systems in the urban context of Vienna. The title hydro ponos, which derives from the ancient Greek, translates to the words water and work, is referring to the hydroponic system in a vertical farm as an agricultural production, which creates the main function of the project. The vacant combat tower of the flak tower pair in the Augarten was chosen as the building site. With the research of scientific literature on the current state of agriculture in Austria as well as worldwide, the thesis analyzes the conditions and provides a critical point of view on the current form of agriculture. Based on future-oriented systems such as vertical and urban agriculture, a solution is proposed in the form of a new wooden skeleton structure as an extension of the tower for the city of Vienna. The tower works as storage and serving element for the new function. Furthermore, parts of the existing flak tower will be redesigned to create new cultural uses such as a flak tower museum, an agricultural museum, a marketplace for alimentation, gastronomy and a viewing platform as a roof terrace. Due to its char-acteristics, it is explained why it is ideal as a storage unit for the production, a serving element and as a facility for various cultural uses. The aim of the project is to generate a symbiosis between the existing and the new building.
