Abstract:
The paper discusses the question of whether Donato Bramante may have been active in Genazzano during a phase of his career around 1500, within the context of Colonna patronage. The discussion examines evidence, attributions, and influences relating not only to the so-called Nymphaeum (as a ruin conceived as an architectural fiction), but also to Renaissance-period phases of transformation and expansion of the Castello Colonna, as well as to selected sacred spaces in Genazzano. The borgo and the surrounding landscape are also considered against the background of the Hypnerotomachia Poliphili.

Il contributo discute la questione se Donato Bramante possa aver operato a Genazzano in una fase della sua attività attorno al 1500, nel contesto di una committenza riconducibile alla famiglia Colonna. La discussione prende in esame indizi, attribuzioni e influssi relativi non solo al cosiddetto Ninfeo, interpretato come una rovina artificialmente concepita, ma anche alle fasi di trasformazione e ampliamento in età rinascimentale del Castello Colonna, nonché ad alcuni spazi sacri selezionati di Genazzano. Il borgo e il paesaggio circostante vengono inoltre considerati sullo sfondo della Hypnerotomachia Poliphili.
