Perspektive : Museum der Emotionen in Skógafoss, Island

Abstract

Diese Arbeit untersucht die Beziehung zwischen Architektur, Emotion und Wahrnehmung am Beispiel eines Museums der Emotionen am Wasserfall Skógafoss in Island. Ziel des Entwurfs ist es, einen Raum zu gestalten, in dem Gefühle nicht nur thematisiert, sondern durch Raum, Licht und Materialität unmittelbar erfahrbar werden. Das Konzept basiert auf einem ringförmigen Baukörper, der sich teilweise in den Fels integriert und teilweise kreisförmig um den Wasserfall in der Luft schwebt. Funktionale und technische Bereiche sind in ein Tunnelsystem im Felskörper verlagert, während der sichtbare Stahlring als Ausstellungsraum dient. Die Ausstellung folgt einer zyklischen Dramaturgie negativer und positiver Emotionen, die durch unterschiedliche räumliche Atmosphären inszeniert wird. Das Projekt zeigt, dass Architektur mehr ist als Funktion und Form. Abschließend zeigt es, dass Perspektive eine bewusste Entscheidung ist und Architektur diese Erkenntnis räumlich erfahrbar macht.

This thesis explores the relationship between architecture, emotion and perception through the example of a Museum of Emotions at the waterfall Skógafoss in Iceland. The aim of the project is to create a space in which emotions are not only addressed thematically, but are directly experienced through space, light and materiality.The concept is based on a ring-shaped structure that is partially integrated into the rock and partially cantilevered in a circular formation around the waterfall. Functional and technical areas are relocated into a tunnel system within the rock, while the visible steel ring serves as the exhibition space. The exhibition follows a cyclical dramaturgy of negative and positive emotions, designed through distinct spatial atmospheres.The project demonstrates that architecture is more then function and form. Finally, it shows that perspective is a conscious choice and that architecture makes this understanding spatially experiential.
