SonnDreh°Viertel: Wo der Wiener Stadtwald beginnt und die Häuser sich drehen

Abstract

Die vorliegende Entwurfsarbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Konzeption eines teilweise rotierenden Wohnbaus mit Mischnutzung, der aus zwei unterschiedlichen Gebäudetypen besteht. Ausgangspunkt dieser Arbeit ist die Kreisform als Formensprache. Ziel des Projekts ist es, neue Möglichkeiten der Anpassungsfähigkeit von Wohnarchitektur an sich verändernde räumliche und funktionale Anforderungen zu untersuchen. Ein zentraler Schwerpunkt liegt auf der Variabilität der Gebäude in Beziehung zu ihrer Umgebung sowie auf der Flexibilität der Wohnungsgrundrisse, die unterschiedliche Wohnformen und Lebenssituationen ermöglichen sollen. Darüber hinaus wird der Multifunktionalität der Erdgeschosszone besondere Bedeutung beigemessen, um soziale Interaktion, öffentliche Nutzungen und eine lebendige Quartiersstruktur zu fördern. Ein weiterer wesentlicher Bestandteil der Arbeit ist die technische Ausarbeitung und konstruktive Detaillierung des Rotationsmechanismus sowie die Entwicklung eines stimmigen Wasser- und Abwassersystems. Der 306.650 m2 große Bauplatz befindet sich im Sonnwendviertel im 10. Wiener Gemeindebezirk. Städtebaulich wird der Entwurf im Kontext einer Renaturalisierungsstrategie betrachtet, bei der das Quartier als urbaner Stadtwald interpretiert wird.

The presented design project deals with the conception of a partially rotating mixed-use residential building consisting of two different building typologies. This design work is based on the circle as a formal design language. The aim of the project is to explore new possibilities for the adaptability of residential architecture in response to changing spatial and functional requirements. A central focus lies on the variability of the buildings in relation to their surroundings as well as on the flexibility of the apartment layouts, which are intended to accommodate diverse living arrangements and lifestyles. Furthermore, particular importance is given to the multifunctionality of the ground floor zone in order to promote social interaction, public uses, and a vibrant neighborhood structure. Another essential component of the project is the technical development and constructive detailing of the rotation mechanism, as well as the design of a coherent plumbing system. The 306,650 m2 development site is located in the Sonnwendviertel in Vienna’s 10th district. From an urban design perspective, the project is considered within the framework of a renaturalization strategy in which the district is interpreted as an urban forest.
