Abstract:

This master’s thesis focuses on the virtual reconstruction of the destroyed synagogue in Valašské Meziříčí, located in what is now the district of Krásno nad Bečvou. The aim of this thesis is to develop a consistent digital 3D model of the building, constructed in the 19th century, based on historical plans, photographs, cartographic documents, and written sources, as well as the identification of discrepancies in the plans. The reconstruction is intended not only as a technical approximation of a lost building, but also as a contribution to making visible and communicating a largely lost architectural and cultural heritage. Methodologically, the work combines historical architectural research with digital modeling and focuses in particular on discrepancies between plans, the reconstruction of the facades and the interior, and the source-critical derivation of missing information. The result makes it possible to spatially capture a building that no longer exists within the urban fabric and demonstrates the potential of virtual reconstruction for architectural-historical research and the culture of remembrance.
