Abstract:

As a fast growing enterprise in plant engineering and construction challenges are daily business. Accepting and managing these challenges can decide whether the enterprise is successful or not. Improving and optimizing processes can make an important contribution to sustain and increase competitiveness. Especially in the central European region it is important to increase productivity and raise potential savings in producing areas. The dispatch of goods and products from the production site in Wels to customers and construction sites is one of the last steps in the process from receiving an order to delivering and installing a new facility. Direct contact to the customer is common and enlarges the importance of the dispatch process. A detailed analyse of the dispatch process and the definition of weaknesses and potential problems, in the dispatch process itself as well as in contact with other process steps, builds the foundation of improvement and optimization measures. Implementing these measures, not just for the dispatch process but also for other highly influencing processes, closes this analyse. Of high importance is the shipment of goods and products for very urgent requests for delivery. These so called Task Force deliveries quicken all process steps to the fastest possible way leading to high process costs and pressure on various departments. The differentiation of the urgency and importance of deliveries and the illustrating of these differences in the process and the system leads to relieve of strain. Savings and more stable processes as well as higher availability of urgent Task Force deliveries are the results of the implemented measures. This master thesis describes the course of action to determining the weak points and the best practice for the dispatch processes and shows the implemented improvements.
