Development of a calculation model for the individual energy consumption of different households for space heating and domestic hot water based on identical detached houses The building energy performance certificate is based on standardized calculations, synthetic outdoor climate data and a standardized user performance to allow a comparable rating of the thermal building performance. Due to the same reasons, this certificate is inappropriate to estimate the individual users energy consumption for space heating and domestic hot water, which is a problem for building planners and energy consultants. Based on a study of 35 almost identical detached houses, this thesis presents an energy consumption calculation that is adapted to the individual users behaviours and the real outdoor climate conditions. The investigated houses have basically the same thermal envelope and differ only in orientation and existence of a basement. To gather information about the energy consumption related user behaviours, questionnaires were created and interviews were conducted. The collected data involved user demographics, ventilation behaviour, hot water consumption, power consumption and thermal comfort parameters. Furthermore, data loggers were installed in the living rooms to measure the actual indoor temperature. Additional data loggers were used to obtain the outdoor temperature data in the investigated residential estate. Moreover, the building airtightness was measured by blower door tests to improve the estimation of the infiltration losses. The standardized calculations of the building energy performance certificate were modified in such a way that all collected data could be factored in. Therefore, a prediction model was developed to estimate the individual users energy consumption for space heating and domestic hot water. The validation of the model was done by comparing the calculated and the measured data that were taken from the energy bills over a period of three years. The data, calculated by the adapted model, show a very high correlation to the measured data. The developed prediction model also provides information about the influence of the user behaviour on the energy consumption in single-family housing.
