LEAN CAN - Lean-Methoden in der Dosenabfüllung

Abstract

Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit der Anwendung von Lean-Methoden auf eine Abfüllproduktion von Getränkedosen im Lebensmittelbereich. Das Standardwerk zum Thema Lean-Methoden ist das Buch von James P. Womback, Daniel T. Jones und Daniel Roos in dem die Autoren eine Studie in den Toyota Werken in Japan durchgeführt haben, um das Erfolgskonzept Lean für die westliche Welt zugänglich zu machen. Wer von Lean redet, kommt unausweichlich auf die SMED-Methode zu sprechen. Diese ermöglicht es jede Umbauzeit um ein Vielfaches zu reduzieren. Durch die Formel 1 wurde diese Methode weltweit bekannt, dort werden heutzutage die Reifen im einstelligen Sekundenbereich gewechselt. Der Erfinder der SMED-Methode Shigeo Shingo beschreibt in seinem Buch -A Revolution in Manufacturing: The SMED System- die Entwicklungsgeschichte der Methode mit vielen Anwendungsmöglichkeiten, welche auf andere Rüstprozesse angewendet werden können. Die Herren Pawel Gorecki und Peter Pautsch haben sich ebenfalls mit der SMED-Methode befasst und einen hervorragenden Artikel erstellt, in dem sie darstellen wie eine hohe Variantenvielfalt durch effektives und schnelles Rüsten bewerkstelligt werden kann.

A leading Austrian juice producer asked himself which of their can filling production processes could be improved. The analysis of the existing processes was performed with Lean-Methods (SMED, Poka Yoke, 5S-Method, PDCA-Cycle). The development of optimization strategies was set as goal of this master thesis. Section one describes the current can filling processes used in production. It also provides insights of can filling production in general. All machines that are used in the company-s production environment are listed and described in detail. These findings are considered groundwork for the improvement concepts described further on. One essential improvement is the application of the SMED method for the changeover process at the can seamer. Another one is the simplification of information flow in production. The current changeover process and information flow are described and analysed in section two. Some improvement concepts are presented which have potential to strongly reduce changeover time when implemented. A time reduction of 25% could be achieved in changeovers where some of these concepts had been applied. A concept of a software solution was created for improvements of the information flow. It has the potential to smoothen information transfer between supervisor and production workers throughout all processes.
