Lithium in particular is gaining in importance as an industrial mineral due to the increased use of lithium8ion batteries and accumulators. However, it is being used in a wide array of application, like in glass and ceramics, batteries, cement production, lubricating greases and others. Hence, this thesis set out to develop a material flow analysis for the applications and quantities of lithium in the EU for the year 2014. As a result, conclusions about the potential for recycling and a circular economy for lithium will be drawn. |
