dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
This paper addresses the children`s hospital in Krvavica, architected by Rikard Marasovi-, commissioned by the yugoslavian army. The hospital is a complex which con- sists of a main building, in which the children were ac- comodated, an outbuilding, that serves as a warehouse and a residential building, where the staff had their fa - cilities. The building functioned as a children`s hospital for ten years and was converted into a hotel later on. In the beginning of this thesis I will discuss the historical background, location and origin of the building. Subse - quently I will only deal with the survey and analysis of the main building, as this was the only building that was accessible at the time. The result of this survey will be a use concept that I present at the end of the thesis. The building will be a rest and recreation place for chil- dren, without the need of medical treatment. It will be an destination for school excursions from all over Cro - atia, especially for students from the inland, in order to complement their lessons with sports activities and creative work. The thesis is written to show that Marasovi-`s building is worth protecting as a monument, because it`s an im - portant contemporary witness of modern Yugoslavia, and it only needs a few interventions in the buildings structure to enable a similar usage.
