Geschichtlicher Überblick, Analyse und Revitalisierung der ehemaligen Torpedo-Abschussstation in Rijeka, Kroatien

Abstract

Städte sind in ihrer traditionellen Form bekannt als schnellwachsende und bewegte Gebiete, die Prosperität und Entwicklung ermöglichen. Mit dem Prozess der Industrialisierung verloren sie an klassischer administrativer, politischer und kultureller Bedeutung. Dies führte zu einem Strukturwandel und einer organisatorischen bzw. einer räumlichen Ungleichheit. Rijeka, die damals als eine der wichtigsten Hafenstädte Europas galt, zeigt heute eine klare visuelle Trennung zwischen diesen beiden Teilen der postindustriellen Stadt und ihrer unproportionierten Entwicklung hinzu zum modernen Kontext. Das Torpedo Museum wurde auf einem Konzept aufgebaut, welches sich aus dem Erhalt der alten Abschussstation welches das Symbol des industriellen Erbes ist, und einem Kultur- und Erholungszentrum zusammensetzt. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es eine Entwurfsstrategie zu entwerfen, die die historischen Ereignisse veranschaulicht, um im nächsten Schritt eine moderne Erweiterung implementieren zu können.

The cities in their traditional form are accepted to be fast-growing areas of prosperity and development. By undergoing a process of deindustrialization for a long period of time, the industrial type of cities can no longer be considered administrative, political and cultural centers due to the imbalance in their organizational and spatial pattern. The city of Rijeka, situated on the Adriatic coast, once an important port in Europe, stands as an example of a disconnection between the different parts of the postindustrial city and their disproportional growth in the modern context. The Torpedo museum is a proposal for the preservation of the old Launch pad station, a symbol of the industrial heritage in Rijeka and its transformation into a cultural and recreational complex. This approach illustrates the possibility to revive the history within the old industrial tissues, with the use of contemporary tools, in order to re-establish the traditional means of urban development.
