In this thesis I investigate the behavior of proximity integrated circuit card (PICC) operating in the high frequency (HF) band at 13.56 MHz using advanced design systems (ADS) simulator and also real measurements. Those PICC are passive tags powered by the reader antenna via inductive coupling and consist of a coil antenna and certain linear and non-linear components such as resistors, diodes or capacitors. One of the goals of this work was to understand how some of the elements affect the operation of the PICC in both simulation and measurement.
