Das sozialistische Bandstadtmodell in Charkiv : "QUERreinspaziert" ein neues Band entsteht

Abstract

Der Sozialismus spielte eine bedeutende Rolle in der historischen Entwicklung der Ukraine. Die Städte wurden von den Ideologien und städtebaulichen Modellen dieser Ära geprägt. Eines dieser Modelle ist jenes der Bandstadt. Im ersten, theoretischen Abschnitt gilt es die Prinzipien der Bandstadt zu erläutern und im Übergang festzuhalten, welche Zielsetzungen in die konkrete Analyse der Beispielstadt Charkiv eingeflossen sind. Durch die Recherche der historischen Stadtplanung, die sozialen Umstände in der Ukraine im Sozialismus wird ein Vergleich zwischen der Theorie des Modells und der praktische Umsetzung in Charkiv hergestellt. Aufbauend auf einer Analyse vor Ort entwickelten sich die Kernkonzepte für den praktischen Entwurf im zweiten Teil dieser Arbeit. Um die strikte Linearität und Achsenbildung, die im Fokus und der Bezeichnung der Bandstadt stehen, aufzulockern und im selben Zuge eine Art Zentralität in einem bestimmten Planungsgebiet herzustellen wurden anhand von Gesprächen mit Bewohnerinnen und Bewohnern das Konzept einer Querachse erstellt. Das sich daraus entwickelte Konzept wird als QUEReinspaziert bezeichnet, dessen Potential es ist, vorhandene Defizite zu minimieren und bestehende Vorzüge zu unterstreichen, welche in den praktischen städtebaulichen Entwurf eingeflossen sind.

Abstract. The history and development of the Ukraine has been profoundly influenced by Socialism. Many cities were shaped by the ideology and urban planning models of that era. The linear city, Bandstadt in German, is one example of the urban planers- concept of the time. In the first part of this thesis, the theory and principles of the linear city model are outlined, as well as their impact on society. This allows us to understand the principles which govern the sample city: Charkiv. By analyzing the historic planning of this city, as well as the social circumstance of the Socialist era, a comparison of the theory and its implementation was established. Through an on-site analysis, the core concepts of the practical approach were developed in the second part of this thesis. Having conducted extensive interviews with the inhabitants of this linear city, the idea of a cross-axis was born. This counteracts the axis-based, linear concept that lies at the heart of the linear city model and creates an area of concentration in a designated planning area. In German, we use the portmanteau QUEReinspaziert, combining 'cross' (quer) and 'come on in' (hereinspaziert) expressing 'cross-on-in', to designate the development concept. Its potential to minimize existing deficits, emphasize available assets, and let these flow into future developments are then discussed.
