Die Erweiterung und Erneuerung der Marina im Seebad Rust am Neusiedler See ist Thema dieser Diplomarbeit. Der Freistadt Rust, deren gesamte historische Altstadt unter Denkmalschutz und unter dem Schutz der Haager Konvention steht, liegt vorgelagert das Seebad Rust. Stadt und Seebad befinden sich im nördlichen Burgenland und innerhalb der Weltkulturerbstätte Kulturlandschaft Fert-/Neusiedler See. Der Neusiedler See ist aufgrund seiner Lage, Größe und Wetterbedingungen besonders beliebt bei Surfern und Seglern. Zudem gilt er als Naherholungsgebiet für Wien und Bratislava. Aufgrund seiner Tiefe von durchschnittlich einem Meter, kann er meist nur von Jollen und Jollenkreuzern und nicht von Kielbooten besegelt werden. Somit sind kleinere Boote die Regel auf dem Neusiedler See. Dadurch wird auch eine andere Art der Infrastruktur, wie sonst auf Binnenseen üblich, von Seglern benötigt. Aufgrund der Größe der Boote, sind meistens nur bedingt Schlaf- und Lagermöglichkeiten an Bord vorhanden. In der Rusterbucht gibt es neben dem Strandbad, eine Marina und zwei Segel Clubs. Die Marina besitzt jedoch nur dürftig ausgebaute Versorgungsmöglichkeiten und ist eher provisorisch angelegt. Die Segel Clubs können meist nur ihre Mitglieder versorgen und fördern eine eher intensive und teilweise introvertierte Segelkultur. Insgesamt sind die Stegplätze in der Rusterbucht stark ausgelastet. Hier gibt es die Chance direkt auf eine bestehende Nachfrage zu reagieren und den Bedürfnissen von Wassersportlern in einem Naturschutzgebiet entgegenzukommen und einen neuen Seglerhafen zu etablieren. Hauptaufgabe der Marina wird es sein Logistik und Infrastruktur zu bündeln, um an anderer Stelle Eingriffe im Naturschutzgebiet zu verhindern. Durch die direkte Förderung des Segelsports in Rust, soll eine intensive Auseinandersetzung mit Naturschutz und dem Kulturerbe entstehen. Durch den Segelsport, wie auch bei anderen Natursportarten, gibt es eine unmittelbare Konfrontation mit der Natur. Durch diese Auseinandersetzung sollen sich eine umso größere Sensibilität sowie ein Verständnis für unsere Umwelt entwickeln.

Renewal and structural expansion at the Lake Neusiedl: the present thesis deals with the reconstruction of the marina of the lakeside resort Rust. The lakeside resort is adjacent to the royal free city of Rust, and located in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage region Fertö/Lake Neusiedl in the northern part of the Austrian state Burgenland. Due to its location, size and climate conditions, the Lake Neusiedl is particularly popular for surfing and sailing. In addition, it serves as recreational area and weekend getaways for the citizens of Vienna, Austria and Bratislava, Slovakia. With an approximate depth of one meter, the shallow Lake Neusiedl is for the most part only accessible by small boats - such as jollyboats and catboats, who have become a vital part of the scenery - demanding for an infrastructure that is different from the ones usually in place at inland lakes. Here, the prevalent small boats on site usually don-t have sleeping or storage facilities. The Rust bay offers, beside the lakeside resort, a marina and two sailing clubs. The former, with a more provisional character, provides only for limited supply facilities that can be used by sailors while the latter two show a rather introversive club culture, restricting their services to members only. Altogether, the moorings in the Rust bay are used to their full capacities. The high popularity of the lake among sailors on the one side, and its protected environmental surroundings on the other, lay open the need for better infrastructure and services and present the opportunity to establish a new marina. While combining logistics and infrastructure, the new marina has the potential to prevent intrusion into the surroundings of the lake. Sailing is a sport that is inseparable from nature and closely linked to the environment. A targeted promotion of sailing in Rust through a new marina can lead to more and intensive reflection of its users on issues such as protection of the environment and cultural heritage and offers the chance for the development of greater sensitivity and appreciation towards our environment.
