Revitalisierung der Kehlburg

Abstract

Thema dieser Diplomarbeit ist die Ruine der Kehlburg im Tauferer Tal, eine der ältesten Burgen Südtirols. Das früher repräsentative Schloss verfällt zusehends und tritt dem Besucher als Ruine entgegen. Die Burg liegt weithin sichtbar auf einem Waldhügel, der aus der Bergflanke hervortritt. Von hier hat man einen weiten Blick über das Tauferer Tal und den Brunecker Talkessel. Besonders bemerkenswert ist die südlich gelegene Gartenanlage mit ihren alten Obstbeständen. Die Burganlage soll einer neuen Nutzung zugeführt werden. Diese erfordert die Sicherung und partielle Wiederherstellung der historischen Substanz und die Errichtung eines Zubaus im Norden. Auch ihre Umgebung, die historische Gartenanlage mit den Terrassierungen und den noch vorhandenen alten Obstbeständen soll in Stand gesetzt und in die neue Bauaufgabe integriert werden. Die Burg soll eine neue Bedeutung bekommen und zu einem Ort werden, der Besucher einlädt, ihre Geschichte zu erfahren, die Geschichte ihrer Umgebung und ihre Vegetation zu erleben und zu erforschen. Die Kehlburg soll einerseits zu einem Forschungs- und Lehrzentrum werden, das sich mit der Pflanzenwelt des alpinen Raums auseinandersetzt, andererseits soll sie Ausflugsziel und Aussichtspunkt werden.

This thesis is about the remains of the Kehlburg Castle in the Tauferer Tal Valley, one of the oldest castles in South Tyrol. The castle, once representative, is steadily falling into decay and appears as a ruin to its visitors. It lies, widely visible, on a woody hill standing out against the mountain flank. A panoramic view from here embraces the Tauferer Valley and the urban basin of Bruneck. The baroque garden area with its old fruit trees beneath the southern part of the castle is especially noteworthy. A new purpose is developed for the castle, which includes securing and restoring the historical building substance and adding a new building on the northern part. Moreover, the surroundings and historic garden area with terraces and old fruit trees shall be renewed and integrated into the new construction task. A new meaning will be given to the castle, transforming it into a place that invites visitors to learn its history, to experience and explore the stories of its surroundings and vegetation. The Kehlburg castle shall become a research and learning centre, focusing on the alpine flora and providing a place to explore nature and make excursions.
