Architektur in einer unberührten Landschaft

Abstract

Die geplante Diplomrarbeit befasst sich mit dem Entwurf eines verorteten Gebäudes für Unterkunft und Information in den Ost-Rhodopen, Bulgarien. Das ausgewählte Terrain am Stausee Kardzhali zeichnet sich durch eine unberührte Landschaft mit kontinentalem Mittelmeerklima in unmittelbarer Nähe von historischen Orten und Naturphänomenen aus. Die Region bietet ideale Voraussetzungen für Wandern und Fahrradtourismus. Auf dem Grat zwischen dem bestimmenden Naturraum und dem dörflichen Charakter der Landschaft, muss eine anspruchsvolle architektonische Antwort formuliert werden, die die Abgeschiedenheit des vorgefundenen Ortes durch einen sensiblen Umgang beibehaltet und die Landschaft als architektonisches Element in sich impliziert. Aspekte wie Nachhaltigkeit, Kontexktualität, Topografie, räumliche Qualität, Tektonik, Materialkonzeption werden als ein funktionales Ganzes nachgefragt.

The focus of the project is developing an accommodation space and a visitor station in the Eastern Rhodope Mountains, Bulgaria. The chosen terrain is situated in the untouched and scenic region of Kardzhali Dam. The climate is continental Mediterranean, nearby one can find a plethora of historic and natural sightseeing, which makes the location an attractive spot for cycling and trekking tourism. An adequate architectural approach is needed in order to reflect upon the aspects of the location's features, which are a combination of natural landscape and rural surroundings. The intervention must be respectfully delicate and involving the nature as an architectural element. In the process of development, categories such as sustainability, conservation of topography, context and atmosphere, organizing the space, material, tectonic will be core issues of the assignment.
