Recent developments in the EU introduce a new emissions testing procedure called real-driving-emissions (RDE). The tests are taking place on public roads and within "real" surroundings, to deliver more realistic results. These changes are causing some challenges due to the hardly reproducible test conditions. A solution can be found by using an improved chassis dynamometer, which replicates the environmental influences in a realistic way. Especially emissions and fuel consumption must be well reproducible. To specify the conditions in more detail, this thesis at first discusses the fundamental influences on vehicles within "real" surroundings. Based on that, the next step is the evaluation of the physical quantities crucial for emissions and fuel consumption. These quantities can then be estimated qualitatively and quantitatively due to their effects on emissions and fuel consumption. The main focus of this thesis are those quantities directly influencing the driving resistance of the vehicle as well as the energetic consumption. The quantification relies on literature research, calculating changes of the driving resistance and simulation models. As the results show, the substantial impacts on emissions and fuel consumption result from the following physical quantities: gear shifting point and switching time, solar radiation, rain, resulting wind speed, road curvature, road slope, road evenness, road surface texture and tire inflation pressure. The physical quantities of pavement deflection and marginal changes in vehicle mass can be neglected due to their minor impact.
