Industrial to cultural - planing a multidisciplinary cultural center on the abandoned industrial site of OBOD factory in Cetinje, Montenegro

Abstract

Basierend auf einer Idee der international anerkannten Performance-Künstlerin Marina Abramovic, die im Montenegro-Pavilion auf der Venediger Architektur Biennale 2012 ausgestellt wurde, zeigt das Projekt einen Plan für ein multidisziplinäres, internationales Kulturzentrum auf dem Grundstück der leerstehenden Elektrogerätefabrik OBOD; die Revitalisierung der existierenden sowie den Neubau von zusätzlichen Objekten sollen der Erschaffung, Forschung und Präsentation von verschiedenenen Kunstformen wie Perfomance- und angewandter Kunst, Objekt-Design, Film- und Videokunst, Theater, Tanz, Musik etc. dienen. Die attraktive 70,000m2 Industrielandschaft der OBOD-Fabrik, umgeben von malerischen Gebirgsreliefs, am Rand von Cetinje, Montenegros alter königlichen und kulturellen Hauptstadt, bietet sowohl räumlich als auch funktional den optimalen Ort für die Umsetzung dieses Konzepts.

Based on an idea of the internationally acclaimed performance artist Marina Abramovic, presented as the Montenegrin pavilion's exhibit at Venice architecture Biennale in 2012, this project showcases a plan to build a multidisciplinary, international cultural center on the site of the abandoned electrical appliance factory OBOD, by revitalizing the existing as well as designing new objects dedicated to the creation, research and presentation of different art forms, such as performance and applied arts, object design, film and video art, theater, dance, music etc. Located on an outskirt area of Cetinje, Montenegro's old royal and cultural heritage capital, surrounded by a picturesque and mountainous relief, the attractive 70 000 m2 industrial site of OBOD Factory presents both spatially and functionally a perfect spot for the realization of the envisioned concept.
