Sagmeister, K. (2017).
The Master’s Thesis should help understanding the effects of E-Commerce on the relationship between manufacturers within the electrical industry in Austria and their customers, the electrical contractors. The question that will be answered is: How should the direct sales team of a B2B-manufacturer within the electrical industry be set up to satisfy the demand of electrical contractors in the best possible way. To answer this question a theoretical framework on B2B-sales and E-Commerce in general is constructed based on a literature research. Subsequently the customer expectations have been captured in an empirical part through 8 expert-interviews that have been evaluated by a qualitative content analysis. The results of this work suggest that the personal contact related to sales between manufacturers in the B2B-segment and electrical contractors will currently not be substituted by E-Commerce completely. Particularly when it comes to the purchasing of complex goods and solutions B2B customers see clear limitations for the use of E-Commerce. Personal selling with its extensive transmission potential seems to still have a significant value.
