Ein Park, um die Stadt wieder mit dem Meer zu verbinden... ein Kulturspaziergang zwischen Stadt und Landschaft... eine Bibliothek als Begegnungsraum. Bekannt für ihren langen Strand und ihre Surf-Wettbewerbe, ist die Gemeinde Carcavelos jedoch leider vom Meer abgetrennt: neben der Verkehrsinfrastruktur bildet vor allem auch das große, brachliegende Feld mitten vor dem Strand ein großes Hindernis für die Fußgänger. Dieses großteils ungenutzte Grundstück hat das Potenzial, die Stadt wieder mit dem Meer zu verbinden durch eine spannende Promenade mit einer Mischung aus Kunst, Kultur und Natur. Dieses Diplom konzentriert sich auf die Bibliothek, welche neben ihrer primären Funktion auch unterschiedliche andere Typen von Benutzern versammeln soll.

Re-connecting the city and the see through a park... A walk between city and nature giving cultural impulses... A library as a meeting point. Even though well known for its long beach and the surfing competitions taking place there, the city of Carcavelos got separated from the see: both trafic infrastructures as well as a big unused field directly in front of the beach present a big obstruction for pedestrians. This mainly unused property has the potential to connect the city with the see offering a mixture of art, culture and nature. This diploma project concentrates on the library, which is expected to attract many different types of users besides it's primary function.
