Abstract:

Due to the fact that there is no public indoor swimming pool in Gmunden, which is the capital city of the correspondent district and the existing plans for building a hotel complex at the former -Seebahnhof Gmunden- I chose this location for my master thesis. As a first part of this thesis a lot of statistical relevant facts had to be collected and edited visually for the reader. As there would not be enough guests expected the room program of a typical indoor pool had to be adapted and upgraded with certain activities. The major idea was to combine the demanded high of the ceiling with an indoor climbing wall. The load bearing structure of the roof was designed in wood and so the inner climate, that affects the humidity of the wood too, had to be defined. As 90% of the LCC-s of a building type like this are operating costs investments in renewal energy concepts are much more lucrative than in other buildings. The lake Traunsee is used as a medium for the heat pump that is located in the basement of the building. The solar gains of the photovoltaic system of a function of orientation and location of the building where estimated. The building site is viewable from the ancient city center of Gmunden and integrates itself into the traffic concept that had been rearranged within the last year and should be seen as an alternative to the designed, and not yet built, hotel project.
