dc.description.abstract
When measuring electromagnetically induced transparency with atoms in a nanofiber-based optical trap, one detects a background of fluorescence and Raman scattered photons from the fiber in addition to the signal of interest. To filter out these perturbing photons, a Fabry-Pérot resonator that is actively stabilized to a reference laser is set up. This resonator allows for high transmission of the probe signal while strongly suppressing the control field and the background signal from the fiber. Additionally, the suppressed background signal allows the number of trapped atoms to be determined more precisely.
