Countinously increasing demands of users, architects, structural design and building industry lead to higher, wider and filigreeder buildings with widely varied use requirements. Thus also the used (composite) building materials have to meet the rising standars. Using the example of concrete this is discernible by the development from high-strength concrete through to ultra high-strength concrete. A building material is desired, that distinguishes itself by high strength while at the same time good processability. In addition to the use of latest mixing processes this properties can be achieved by a optimum composition of the source materials as well as the use of various additives. In general, the denser the concrete, the higher the strength. The tightness can be increased by the filling of voids with finer components or by the use of chemical reactive materials, which contribute to the strength development by their chemical reaction during the process of binding concrete. Considering the physical filler effect, a significantly higher strength can be obtained alone through the optimal coordination of the various components regarding grain size and grain distribution. Packing density is a parameter that represents the coordination of the individual grains. Accordingly it constitutes one of the most essential factors for achieving high strength. Finding the optimum composition depends on various factors and requires a complex calculation procedure. Thus there is a need for a corresponding computer program.
