Lavaux is a vineyard at the northeast shore area of Lake Geneva and ranges over 898 hectare between Lausanne and Vevey. In the 12th century, the bishops of Lausanne enabled to transform the difficult nature of the ground. The steep and heterogeneous inclination of the area should be - in favor of winegrowing - subdued and utilized. Therefore, the developed scenery of the vineyards has been affected until today and has become the landmark for the area of Lavaux. In 2007, Lavaux becomes a part of the UNESCO-world heritage - as an outstanding example of a centuries-long interaction between people and their environment. Since 2013, the association Lavaux Welterbe (LPm) endeavors to establish a center of Lavaux ¿ a center that enables to communicate and pass the values of this special area, thus a meeting place and a place to work. According to the requests and the agenda of LPm, the Cultural Centre of Wine Lavaux shall be generated at the shore area of Lake Geneva, the connecting area between the lake and the agriculturally used, cultivated and occupied area of Lavaux. Designed as a meeting place and a place to work, it provides a space for exhibitions, lecture space, research facilities and different facilities for catering and wine tasting. A generous meeting space provides a stage for the surrounding landscape and makes a positive contribution to the quality of the shore area that is dominated by automobile traffic and train service.
