Sea Desk Residence : artists as creative consultants, and the space for successfull collaboration

Abstract

Diese Arbeit untersucht die Rolle eines Künstlers bezogen auf den heutigen Firmenalltag. Anhand eines Seminarhotels, welches ein Artist-in-Residency beherbergt, soll gezeigt werden, dass Künstler und ihre kreative Herangehensweise einen positiven Einfluss auf die Kreativität und Produktivität von Büroarbeiter haben kann. Im Gegenzug bekommen Künstler, nicht nur einen Ort zum Leben und Arbeiten, sondern auch die Möglichkeit sich mit Menschen aus anderen Berufsfeldern auszutauschen, Kontakte zu knüpfen und ihr Netzwerk zu erweitern. Die Küste Portugals bietet sich dabei als Idealer Ort an, da sie sich vom gestressten Arbeitsalltag und der hektischen Großstadt zurück ziehen können.

On the basis of a company retreat coupled with an Artist-in-Residency, this thesis will examine the roll of artists in todays business environment. Located on the coast of Portugal the retreat will provide companies the possibilities to leave behind their monotonous daily routine and their crowded cities to work with artist. Thus company workers should be inspired and enhance their creative thinking and problem solving skills. On the other hand artist find a place to stay and work temporarily with companies, connect, exchange and widen out their community.
