dc.description.abstract

dc.description.abstract
Through the energy transition hydrogen storage methods are getting more important, especially at mobility applications. Beside the well known pressure vessels and the cryogenic-tanks there is the opportunity to bond hydrogen in metals in form of metal hydrides. The first part of the current paper deals with the conventional storage methods of hydrogen, followed by metal hydrides and their potential as hydrogen storage. After that the mechanism of the hydride reaction and the thermodynamic aspects are presented. The second part concerns to the construction and build up process of a test rig for metal hydrides. There will be a detailed explanation of used appliances and instruments. Besides this the production of metal-hydride-pellets is discussed. The pellets are made of various mixtures, including the metal hydride called Hydralloy C5 and ENG (expanded natural graphit). The received values out of the pellets production will be elucidated, followed by a comparison to a similar work written by Carsten Pohlmann, Lars Röntzsch a.o. form the Technical University of Dresden. Finally further tasks concerning the build up process of the test rig are listed up in from of a "to-do"-list.
