Abstract:
Office seeks Connection Integration of an Officebuilding in its urban environment In order to maximize the profitability of office buildings , real estate investors hold small plots together to large surface areas . There arise impenetrable , oversized "lumps" or "Klumpen" that no longer integrate in the specified city structures and thus extend footpaths and block visual axis. As a strategy to deal with such dimensions, the design insinuates to typical Viennese architectural shapes: the court house and the walk through house. These building forms, occurring particularly in the densely built-up inner city, combine two streets, lying parallel, and can be crossed. On the one hand that is a time and way safer on the other hand, private space is made available for the public. The building is directly part of the city. The corporate architecture is characterized by contemporary Catchwords such as "innovative, dynamic, vital and flexible". However, the examples of many small and large companies, quartered in old factory buildings show other emphasises. The striking material appearance of such buildings and the associated qualities not only embody entrepreneurial ideologies, but also convey an atmosphere that contributes positively to the quality of work. In the 18th and 19th Centuries in Vienna built factory buildings were carried out primarily in exposed brick construction, under the influence of the architect Ludwig Förster. Brick is always brought in conjunction with manual labour, not least because of the mode of production and its use on the site. Its format is tailored to the manual work, in a size that seeks its scale in humans. In the assembled state, in the form of the masonry, the work involved is clearly visible . The aim of the design is to integrate an office building in a residential district, to make it discernable to the public and to create added value for passersby and office users . A distinctive appearance creates presence in terms of corporate architecture and offers identity to the neighbourhood.
