Abstract:
Electric machines used in traction drives against those used in industrial drives always show a high utilization in terms of both electromagnetic as well as thermal parameters. Therefore, an accurate precalculation of the generated losses is one of the main focus with the design of such machines. In particular, special attention has to be given to the additional losses caused by the inverter feed. In permanent magnet synchronous machines, these additional losses arise mainly as iron losses in the magnetic circuit and as power losses in the stator winding as well as eddy current losses in the permanent magnets. This thesis deals with both the modelling of these additional losses and subsequently the development of a corresponding equivalent circuit for the precalculation of these additional losses in permanent magnet synchronous machines with interior magnets. Starting from the operational data of the PWM control of the inverter, such as synchronous or asychronous switching and in particular the spectrum of the output voltages, a precalculation of these additional losses will be possible. The modelling of the frequency dependent loss portions shares only those data which are known directly from the design of the permanent magnet synchronous machine. In particular, the pitching of the stator winding is included with the stator losses. On the other hand, the rotor losses are obtained by using the Poynting theorem. Finally, the results of the models and the equivalent circuit are compared to those from measurement data of an already existing permanent magnet synchronous machine with interior magnets.
