Abstract:
Recently, it has become possible to differentiate human pluripotent stem cells into fully functional myocardial cells. This work will investigate how myocardial cells can grow on microstructure surfaces. The focus will be on the fabrication of three-dimensional T-bar structures as substrate for cell cultures. For the fabrication, methods of conventional microfabrication as well as of nanoimprint lithography will be employed. Finally, the seeding, growth and differentiation of cells on these 3D growth templates will be studied. The results of this work may contribute to novel biochips for medical and pharmaceutical applications.
