Abstract:
Different experimental and computational studies on combustion of dimethyl ether (DME), a very promising non petroleum fuel alternative, are carried out in this thesis. DME can be manufactured out of various types of biomass and BioDME belongs to the group of second-generation biofuels. Experimental studies are carried out emplyoing the counterflow configuration. The burner used in the experiments is made up of two ducts. In the counterflow configuration, two axys-symemtric reactant streams flow from opposite directions towards a stagnation plane.
