Abstract:
Abstract Diesel is a modern product, which is produced in crude oil benefits. In Europe the amount of diesel production is increasing year for year compared to gasoline production because of economical aspect. Diesel is a blend product of middle distillates, bio components (FAME, HVO) alternative diesel GTL (gas to liquid) and additives. Today-s additives are an important part of diesel. Additive treatment is needed to achieve the target of the specification, which has been set in European product standard (EN 590) for diesel fuel. Different parameters like cloud point (CP), cold filter plugging point (CFPP) and pour point (PP) describe the cold properties of diesel fuel and give indicative information, at which low temperature a diesel fuel is still operable. The European Standard EN 590 is a certain specification for diesel fuel, where the cold flow property is defined by cold filter plugging point (CFPP). Furthermore different classes for different seasonal are classified. In Austria for winter diesel quality a CFPP of max. -20°C is required. To achieve this requirement in refinery with economical aspect the use of additive nowadays is necessary. The amount of additive is very low < 1000 ppm. This master thesis includes the systematically research of diesel component for different diesel fuels and influence of middle distillates, bio components, GTL-blending on response of cold flow additives and on the cold flow properties of the fuel. This work has been done in the refinery OMV in Schwechat, Austria. Keywords: Diesel, Cold flow additives and their Influence on cold flow properties (CP, CFPP, COP), influence of middle distillates, bio component and GTL on response of cold flow additive.
