Abstract:
Musik unterlag im Laufe der Zeit immer wieder Veränderungen: Von Kirchenmusik über Barock zur Klassik und Romantik und bis hin zur sog. 'Neuen Musik' ab dem 20. Jahrhundert. Zeitgenössische Musik ist sehr facettereich und reicht von Musik und Gesang, über Tanz zu verschiedenen Visualund Lightshows. Wien gilt als Hochburg der klassischen Musik und bietet ein großes Angebot an Konzerten und Vorstellungen. Jedoch gibt es keinen Saal, der den Anforderungen der 'Neuen Musik' in allen seinen Erscheinungsformen gerecht wird. Ein Ort, der sich flexibel an die Kunst anpassen kann und es den Künstlern und Zuhörern ermöglicht, ein Werk als Einheit zu erleben. Durch verschiedene Nutzungen dient das 'Haus der Neuen Musik' auch als Plattform und Treffpunkt für Interessierte und Künstler. Der Bauplatz am Morzinplatz ist ein markanter Ort in der Stadt. Mit dem Media-Tower, dem Sofitel und anderen Gebäuden am Donaukanal ergibt sich eine städtebaulich interessante Situation. Für die Stadt Wien als Musikhauptstadt ist ein solches Haus für eine nachhaltige Kulturentwicklung in der Zukunft wichtig. Kultur ist eine Reflexion unserer Gesellschaft und unsere Gesellschaft unterliegt ständigen Entwicklungen und Veränderungen.

Music has always been undergoing changes throughout the centuries: from sacral music, the baroque and classical period to the romantic style and up to the contemporary music of the 20th century. Contemporary music shows a great diversity, ranging from music and vocals, dance and a variety of visuals and lighshows. Vienna is considered a stronghold of classical music and offers a wide range of concerts and performances. However, there is no hall, which meets the requirements of the -new music- in all its manifestations. A place, which can flexibly adapt to the arts and allows artists and the audience to experience the musical artwork as an unit. The 'house of new music' offers space for all kind of functions and turns into a center and meeting point for the interested public and artists. The building site at the Morzinplatz is a striking place in the city and with the position next to the Media-Tower, the Sofitel and other buildings alongside the Danube Canal, an interesting urban situation is given. For the city of Vienna as a world-capital of music, this building would be of high importance for a sustainable development for the future culture. Culture is the reflection of our society and our society is subject to constant developments and changes.
