Grenzen und ihre Grenzen

Abstract

In den 1970er Jahren wurde ein Wettbewerb ür ein zweites Stadtzentrum in Split ausgeschrieben. Damit sollte der Stadtkern, um den Diokletianspalast entlastet werden. Außerdem musste wegen der ansteigenden Einwohnerzahl das Wohnungsbedürfnis erfüllt werden. Also wurde das PIS (Poduzeće za izgradnju Splita = Bauunternehmen für die Stadt Split) gegründet. Das Ziel war es eine Infrastruktur aufzubauen, die die Bedürfnisse von insgesamt 30 000 Einwohnern auf 330 h Fläche abedecken sollten. Wegen finanziellen Gründen wurde das Projekt nie zur Gänze realisiert und lässt heute viele leere Stellen zurück, die entweder verwachsen, oder temporären Funktionen zugeteilt sind. Im Zuge dieser Arbeit soll ein städtebaulicher Vorschlag entwickelt werden, wie eines dieser Gebiete heute aussehen könnte.

There has been published a competiton in the 1970s regarding a second center of the city of Split. The main center at this point, around the Diocletians palace, should be unload. There was also the need for housing facilities for the growing number of residents. The so-known PIS (buildingcompany for Split) was established to find a solution for the problem. They wanted to build flats for around 30 000 inhabitants on a ground of 330hectare. Because of financial reasons the project was never built in its entirety and left a lot of empty spaces behind. Few of them are overgrown, others got a temporary function. Throughout this thesis I want to give a possible urbanistic solution for one of these empty spaces.
