The present work deals with the planning of a home for the elderly in a combination with the assisted living and multi-generational center as an additional function, based on the foundations of the population located in a urban and topographically prominent location, which has been assigned by history such use. A historical overview, a view at the current demographic situation and living arrangements of older people, as well as analysis of the inventory form the basis on which is based my design. This explores primarily the issue of integration of the different uses in one place and at the same time creating an interface between generations, where young and old people come together and proof understanding for each other. Due to increasing living expectation, the length of the third stage of life is increasing as well, and the resulting tendency tends architecturally adapt the nursing homes the high functional requirements. A home for the elderly does not have to be a "total institution" that "an allencompassing or total character" takes through restrictions on social intercourse with the outside world, but to be as much as possible involved in the action. The contact with the surrounding residential buildings should be made through a public buffet for lunch and a multi-generational center, as an independent department. Here it is important that the residents do not have only contact among themselves, but also with their surroundings. This is made possible by a useful and welcoming "free space design" which is intended as an extension of the action within the center. Creative measures are divided by space and structure to facilitate orientation within the building and thereby allow for the essential aspect of "passive observation" have been the most important starting points to create the home residents with an interest in home affairs and home life.
