Abstract:
In the industrial center "IZ NÖ-Süd" the architectural firm "Zieser" built a traffic management system for road vehicles in 2008.
The reason for the establishment of the control system was to help suppliers and customers of the local companies to find the desired company quickly. To make this control system work the business park has been divided into four color routes. Thus, all the companies located are assigned a color. This color assignment means that it is possible for the user with the route color information and object number to find the correct address. The disadvantage of this system is that the control function works only at the two main entrances, the two motorway junctions into the industrial center "IZ NÖ-Süd", from the other entrances the control system does not work.
In the fifth chapter an optimal control system is described. This control system is based on the same approach as designed by the architectural firm "Zieser", but also on all attempts to solve problems during the first year of operation. With the help of an analysis of the existing control system, a survey of the users concerned, and a literature review of pedestrian control systems, an optimal proposal for a traffic management system has been developed.
This proposal for the optimal control system in the business park is built on six color zones, which divide the area. This makes it possible that the user can find the requested company using the information of the color zone or the zone number and the object number. The user can then use these two pieces of information from each entry in the "IZ NÖ-Süd" of the control system. This requires the user to follow the overhead signs to the desired zone.
In the development of the concept it was taken into constitution that the users can be on the roads around the industrial center as long as they can. With this part of the concept it is possible to keep the traffic in the industrial park to a minimum.Once the user reaches the desired zone, signs accompany him into the color zone. For each company entrance there is a guide with the object number of the company.
The difficulties of constructing the control system are the lack of space at major points for guide information and lays-by (these places are location where users got information and orientation). The property situation is the "alpha and omega" for the construction of the control system, as the operator of the business park, the business agency of Lower Austria (ecoplus), doesn`t own any areas on which facilities must be built for the control system. Therefore it is necessary to make arrangements with estate owners to establish the optimal design for the control system. The positions of the pipe installations are important for the foundation of overhead signs and control panels, because there are certain safety regulations which must be complied with.
In chapter six it is described which suggestions for an optimal design of the control system are included or which can`t be included in the existing drought, because the costs would be too high.
Generally speaking, the control system with the implemented changes is a good solution for both customers and suppliers. The system makes sure that users can find the desired destination. A control system is only as good as the operator of the system. This means without maintenance and without help of the local enterprises through target-aimed information for users the control system can`t work.
