dc.description.abstract
dc.description.abstract
In this research, the subjective detection of driving noise in the interior of passenger cars by the travelers is investigated. It analyzes if passengers can acoustically differ sections of different infrastructure (such as various forms of superstructure and noise protection measures) during their journey and how they assess the aural impression of a section in relation to the annoyance. Thus the question, if and in which proportion the acoustic comfort is influenced by various elements of the infrastructure, is studied. Along the new construction route Vienna - St. Pölten binaural recordings of the soundscapes could be obtained with an artificial head measurement system in the interior of a Railjet-car. In psychoacoustic listening tests sound samples of defined sections were reproduced aurally and rated by subjects. General statements of acoustic perception differences between different sections could be derived from statistical analysis of the paired comparison judgments and the annoyance valuations of the relation tests. So noise protection measures, such as noise barriers and embankments, generally have just a low impact on the subjective perception. In contrast, the ballasted substructure, compared to slab track are identified as the acoustically more pleasing track system for passengers at a speed of 200 km/h, this differentiation does not occur at higher speeds. The installation of rail track absorbers on a slab track has a positive effect on the acoustic perception. Furthermore the suitability of different sizes to assess the annoyance has been studied. For this purpose the correlation properties of sound pressure level, as well as other psychoacoustic parameters (loudness, sharpness, roughness and tonality), were compared with the annoyance valuations. It can be seen that some psychoacoustic parameters represent the sensation of annoyance often equally or even better.
