Temelakieva, R. (2010).
The present thesis was created in the Institute of Interdisciplinary Construction Processes Management, Technical University in Vienna associated with the Department of Geotechnics, University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Sofia as a part of the educational process (Double Degree Programm/major attainment). The thesis explores problems of various technical fields; discussions were realized with participants from the departments:
Railway Construction (Sofia) and Transport Structural Facilities (Sofia).
The thesis examines the realization of underground tunnel. The tunnel was designed as a connecting segment of the metro system of Sofia; it will be realized by open cut and by "cut and cover" methods with diaphragm walls. However, the thesis focuses only on the building works (roof construction), the operation of the works and the breakdown of costs.
The work is a practically oriented review of opportunities for realization of diaphragm walls.
Besides the description of the location and geological (framework) conditions it was also described the construction technology and operation. Using principles described in various texts it was determined the stages of construction and associated construction schedule. Then the costs related to main works were calculated.
A different alternative for realization of the connection specified was also analyzed in the thesis "Study of variants - Open cut method with bored piles - Metro of Sofia" by Elvina Stoynova, faculty No. 0427340. The results of the variants were juxtaposed and compared as work subject conclusions. As consequence it was presented the more beneficial solution for the realization of the metro connection from the perspective of construction operation and construction profitability.
