Abstract: 
Thermally treated and untreated galvanized low-alloy steel 22MnB5 was investigated at different temperatures by means of high-temperature cyclic voltammetry (HT-CV). XRD, Raman and EDX spectroscopy were employed as supporting techniques. Voltammograms predominantly reveal redox peaks of iron, zinc and manganese, with the latter two partially exhibiting shifts to higher potentials. HT-CV further allows the distinction between solid and liquid Zn based on different kinetics of the Zn/ZnO redox reaction. Zn1-xMnxO was identified as main surface oxide. Strength and shortcomings of HT-CV are assessed concluding that this method can be advantageous for steel industry, especially when combined with supporting analytical techniques.
