Abstract:

In addition to Building Information Modeling (BIM), the digitalisation of the construction industry is also bringing various other new technologies to the construction site. One very promising technology is augmented reality (AR). The visualisation of the 3D BIM model can support the processes on the construction site and make them more efficient.
In the research project “AR-AQ-Bau”, the authors deal with the development of an AR acceptance tool for the inspection of technical building equipment (TGA) by the local construction supervision (ÖBA).The development was based on the demands of building inspection experts on the AR acceptance tool. Numerous construction site tests with experts as test persons served to validate this AR acceptance tool. These tests were to show whether and for which tasks the AR-supported building services acceptance is more efficient than a conventional building services acceptance and how this AR support is received by the experts.
This article describes the development of the AR acceptance tool and its validation on the basis of construction site tests.
