Brunner, A. (2015).

The aim of this project is to create a temporary visitor center for 'Aspern die Seestadt Wiens', one of the recent biggest urban development projects in Europe. The existing concept of the visitor center is new interpreted and more customer-friendly constructed. 'The customer is king'. This slogan shouldn't be just a throwaway statement; it is supposed to be the key message for all coming development steps. This building shall receive a multifunctional exhibition, which is implemented on several floors. The visitor gets a better inside view into the project with all its facets. The multifunctionality refers to the interaction with the exhibition such as parts of the exhibition, which can be designed flexibly. Additionally there is the possibility to present the project separately for bigger visitor groups in an own event room.Every floor has viewing platforms, in order to receive a better overview of this place. The visitors receives a certain perception for the dimension of this project. Thus, it is not commonplace to see how an area of 340 football fields is being changed into an urban district. Visitors shall be inspired to stay for a longer time. Therefore seating options, a four-storied playground for children, eat and drink possibilities are installed. This supports the comfort of the building. Further on it should not only satisfy the thirst of knowledge, it focuses also the mobility. However the mobility has been already improved by the direct public connection, the metro station 'U2 Aspern Nord', but in order to reach the whole target group it was essential to establish parking possibilities for visitors who decided to come by their own vehicle. For several people, they way over the Danube seems to be a long one. Therefore parking slots for cars, bicycles, motorcycles and a charging station for electric vehicles are planned. But the environmental issue stays in the focus. That is why the visitor center is situated close to the metro station and the bus stations. Through these innovations the visitor center becomes an attractive place. Last but not least an upgrade for the whole project will be created through this new constructed visitor center.
