L’Hydrothèque – Zentrum zur Sensibilisierung für Wasser

Abstract

Bislang ist für die meisten Europäer ausreichend vorhandenes Trinkwasser eine Selbstverständlichkeit, weshalb es nicht mit dem gleichen Wert behandelt wird wie in ariden Ländern. Südeuropa ist jedoch auch bereits von der Wasserkrise und Trockenperioden betroffen. Etwa 85% der französischen Départements haben schon mit Restriktionen zu kämpfen und werden zeitweise in ihrem Wasserverbrauch limitiert.Diese Diplomarbeit ist der Versuch, einen neuen Prototypen zu etablieren. Die „Hydrothèque“ dient als Filter zwischen dem Mensch und Wasser. Die aktuelle Problematik wird einerseits durch einen Ort der Bildung vermittelt, andererseits ist das Gebäude selbst eine Maschine, die durch einen internen Wasserkreislauf einen wichtigen Beitrag zu den Sparmaßnahmen liefert. Als Standort wurde Bordeaux gewählt. Hier – au bord des eaux – am „Ufer der Gewässer“ treffen das Süßwasser der Garonne und das Salzwasser des atlantischen Ozeans aufeinander.Die Sensibilisierung besonders junger Generationen steht hierbei im Fokus, um Verhaltensweisen langfristig zu ändern und zukünftig eine nachhaltigere Nutzung dieser wertvollen Ressource durch einen interaktiven und sensorischen Ansatz zu fördern.

The access to sufficient drinking water is taken for granted in most European countries, which is why it is not treated with the same value as in arid countries. However, Southern Europe is already affected by the water crisis and dry spells. Around 85% of French provinces are already experiencing temporary restrictions and are limited in their water consumption.This diploma thesis is the attempt to establish a new prototype. The “Hydrothèque” serves as a filter between human and water. The current scarcity is conveyed on the one hand by a place of education, on the other hand the building itself works as a machine through an internal water cycle, that makes an important contribution to the saving measures. Bordeaux was chosen for the location. Here – au bord des eaux – "at the water’s edge" is the point where the freshwater of the Garonne river and the saltwater of the Atlantic Ocean meet. The focus lies in the sensitization of young generations, in order to change behaviors in the long term, engage a water-smart society and to cultivate a more sustainable use of this valuable resource in the future through an interactive and sensorial approach.
