Abstract:
Annealing is a process step in the production process of steel strips. The strip is conveyed through the annealing furnace at a predefined temperature and speed. At the exit of the furnace a predefined annealing temperature has to be reached.
Based on the fundamentals of heat transfer, two different models are developed.
The simpler model is called wall-strip model. Thereby, the temperature of the wall is used as input. For the reason of analyzing the influence of the wall and the width of the strip a second model is developed. The gas-wall-strip model uses the temperature of the flue gas as input. Both models utilize the speed of the strip as second input.
A real furnace is parametrized and its process data is used for analyzing the models. Thereby, the results of both models are compared with each other and with the measured annealing temperatures of the strip.
