Abstract:

In this paper, a two housing industrial steam turbine with two controlled extractions is designed. The first housing contains a high-pressure turbine with a nozzle group control. The second housing contains a medium-pressure and a low-pressure turbine, each of them controlled by a throttle. The first step in the design process is the thermodynamic calculation of the steam process. The mass flow can be estimated by specifying a gland steam system and considering leakage flows in labyrinth seals. Afterwards the flow calculation of the blading takes place. This is done by calculating the flow with a meanline analysis. The control stage of the high-pressure turbine is designed as an impulse stage, the remaining stages as reaction stages. The Traupel-profile is used for the blade profile of the reaction stages. The chord lengths are selected according to the required material strength. The final stage of the low-pressure turbine is designed as a twisted blade, according to the three-dimensional character of the flow. To reduce the axial thrust of the rotor, two balancing pistons are used. One on the rotor of the high-pressure turbine and one on the rotor of the medium-pressure and low-pressure turbine. Finally, the partial load behavior of the steam turbine is discussed.
