This master thesis handles the conception and the development of an ontology for a knowledgebased multiagent system in the field of automation technologies. In the beginning the problems of current manufacturing systems will be mentioned and as a conclusion of this chapter the benefits of an ontology to face this problems will be enumerated. A analyse of related works in this fields and an investigation of the used sample-system are also part of the thesis. As sample-system the testbed of the Odo-Struger-Lab of automation and control institute at Vienna University of Technology takes place. The result of this thesis is a concept-design of a knowledge base, a rule base and the implementation of them in protégé and jess. The out-coming system is ready for the simulation in the agent-framework JADE. During the conception of the ontology one big point was that the ontology has to be capable of being enlarged, so that this field belonging future-works could be easily adopted .
