Abstract:
The aim of integrated global chassis control (IGCC) is to develop an intelligent vehicle including "by wire"-technologies, where the driver is mechanically completely decoupled from steering, motor and brakes. For IGCC it is necessary to have precise information about the sideslip angles and the tire-road conditions. Existing tire models are evaluated and discussed for real-time parameter and state estimation. An appropriate tire model is found and implemented for tire-road parameter estimation: The cornering stiffness is essential for small and the maximum lateral coefficient of friction for large sideslip angles. These parameters are not constant and have to be estimated adaptively. A new parameter the instantaneous cornering stiffness is introduced to influence the update of the tire-road parameters. Furthermore, it enables to distinguish between the linear and nonlinear region of the tire model. The tire model including the estimated parameters is implemented in a sideslip angle observer working on changing tire-road conditions. Furthermore, the parameter estimation is used as an extension of fault detection in order to detect false alarms in unstable driving conditions.
