The aim of the present work is to design an adaptable facade system. It should be flexible and capable of adapting to different conditions. Furthermore, this system should remain adaptable over time. There are many reasons in favor of using wood in construction. Among the most important ones are that wood is a renewable resource, allows for a high degree of prefabrication, and is easy to work with.Among other things, this work not only deals with wood, but also how sustainable a ventilated facade can be in solid wood construction. On one hand, the principle should be able to take root in rural areas as well as in the big city. Therefore, the facade is presented in three application scenarios: for a new construction project in the countryside of Upper Austria, in a pop-up store at Karlsplatz in Vienna and as an exhibition booth for a professional fair in Vienna’s Stadthalle. Due to a fixed grid in the facade, a variety of possi-bilities of external design results, which can then be adapted individually. As facade cladding materials are considered, which can be separated and dis-posed of or reused as best as possible. Both the assembly and disassembly of the facade should be feasible as an individual person. To make this possible, element sizes have been chosen that can be handled by dimensions and weight by one person.
