Abstract:

The innovative, yet currently theoretical, SETE-process (a transcritical CO2-process) could play a significant role in the future energy supply in Vienna. The SETE-process allows the simultaneous provision of heat, cooling and electricity. An important step in the development of this new thermodynamic process is the conceptualization of a prototype. The aim of this master’s thesis is the scientific examination of the necessary measuring devices and the associated development of a measurement concept for this prototype. The identification and description of expected process and measurement variables as well as the positioning and selection of necessary measurement systems are required steps to look at. Based on the most important physical fundamentals of thermodynamic circular processes and the history of the SETE-process in Chapter 2, Chapter 3 explains relevant metrological topics and possible measurement methods, including their function, advantages and disadvantages. The structure and the operating states of the process required to set up the measurement concept are analyzed in Chapter 4. The precise identification, description and definition of the measuring points and their requirements, as well as the selection and analysis of the measuring systems, is carried out in Chapter 5. The summarized measurement concept proposal, see Chapter 6, can serve as the basis for further research into the SETE-process by drawing up a control concept and building a prototype.
